Carolina Marin, who claimed her second All England title on Sunday, heads a strong field for the YONEX Swiss Open 2024 which begins today.

The draw includes the likes of Pusarla V. Sindhu, Aya Ohori, Beiwen Zhang, Pornpawee Chochuwong and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung. Marin is not expected to face trouble until the quarterfinals, where a high-profile clash against Pusarla is anticipated.

Among the women’s singles contenders is Tomoka Miyazaki, 2022 world junior champion who recently won the Orleans Masters.

The Swiss Open is the penultimate HSBC BWF World Tour event before the end of Olympic qualifying, and has attracted players and pairs looking to shore up their chances at qualification.

In men’s singles, Lakshya Sen and Christo Popov, who made the semifinals at the All England, will be in action in Basel. Sen is in the same quarter as top seed Lee Zii Jia, Wang Tzu Wei and Toma Junior Popov.

The high-profile withdrawal in the paired events was mixed doubles top seeds Jiang Zheng Bang/Wei Ya Xin. Among the contenders for the title are second seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai, third seeds Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei and sixth seeds Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin.
