Ashwini Ponnappa will compete in both the women’s and mixed doubles after she was elevated alongside Tanisha Crasto (replacing Americans Francesca Corbett/Allison Lee) and Reddy B. Sumeeth (Mark Lamsfuss/Isabel Lohau) to the SATHIO GROUP Australian Open 2023 first round.
Back at the tournament after four years, the Indian veteran and her partners face a tough challenge in both events – against Taipei Open runners-up Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and improving Japanese youngsters Hiroki Midorikawa/Natsu Saito.
This will also be Crasto/Ponnappa’s first event since winning the Nantes International Challenge last month.
