Anders Antonsen has been handed the chance to avenge his defeat at last year’s Thomas Cup to Jeon Hyeok Jin.
Jeon has been promoted to the main draw of his home event Korea Open 2023 in place of Lakshya Sen, who withdrew after his semifinal run at the YONEX US Open 2023 last week in Iowa.
The Jeon-Antonsen rivalry stands at one win apiece – the Dane had defeated the current world No.45 in the group stage of the Thomas Cup in 2021 in his hometown of Aarhus.
Jeon’s victory, which came a year later at the same competition in Bangkok, had put Korea 2-1 ahead in the quarterfinals before Denmark came back to win 3-2.
The Danes, however, lost by the same scoreline to eventual winners India in the semis.
The following players have also been promoted to the main draw.
Men’s singles
Women’s singles

Fun fact: This will be Jeon’s first Korea Open in six years. He lost to Wang Tzu Wei in the first round in 2017.
