Sai Praneeth B., men’s singles winner in 2016, has been promoted from the qualifying list to the YONEX Canada Open 2023 main draw following the withdrawal of reigning champion Alex Lanier.
The 30-year-old will take on Ygor Coelho, himself a replacement for Guatemalan Kevin Cordon, in the opening round.
Men’s singles top seed Viktor Axelsen has also pulled out to focus on recovery after winning the European Games gold in Tarnow, Poland on Sunday. The world No.1 Dane will be replaced by Arnaud Merkle.
