Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo clinched his first title of the season at the YONEX Taipei Open 2023 today with a straight-games win over surprise finalist Su Li Yang.

Wardoyo, whose best performance this year was a runner-up place at the DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters, overcame a combative performance from the local shuttler in the opening game before finishing comfortably, 23-21 21-15.

In women’s singles, home heartthrob Tai Tzu Ying picked up her fifth Taipei Open title beating Beiwen Zhang 21-14 21-17, making her the most successful player at the event.

It was a good day for Malaysia with two titles, with both coming at Chinese Taipei’s expense.

Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei captured their second HSBC BWF World Tour crown; the Orleans Masters champions outgunned local pair Chiu Hsiang Chieh/Lin Xiao Min 21-12 21-8.

Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun made a triumphant return to Taipei, winning their first tournament in a year by defending their crown. The world No.23 Malaysians, who were runners-up at the PERODUA Malaysia Masters but have otherwise had a challenging phase with several early exits, upstaged local duo Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han 20-22 21-17 21-14.

Korea’s fourth-ranked women’s doubles duo Lee Yu Lim/Shin Seung Chan won their first HSBC BWF World Tour title as a pair. The Koreans prevailed in a tough three-game battle against Indonesia’s Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi 18-21 21-17 21-17.
