Indian women’s doubles star Reddy N. Sikki said she is “doing well” after testing positive for COVID-19.
Reddy’s physiotherapist also tested positive for the virus. Both are asymptomatic, meaning neither show any physical symptoms of the virus.
The Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, India, where Reddy and other badminton athletes train, has closed for sanitation for a few days.
Head coach of the Indian badminton team, Pullela Gopichand, said: “There are a set of protocols as per the Sports Authority of India, which we are following.
“This is as per Sikki’s diagnosis and also the things related to training as per the protocols. Sikki will now need to quarantine and return two negative tests to resume training.”
The BWF family wishes Reddy a speedy recovery.
